The all-pervasive silliness of South Park is the theme wrapped around this RPG's solid core, and if toilet humour and the occasional jab at some much darker subjects isn't your cup of tea, South Park: The Fractured but Whole (TFBW hereafter) could end up grating on you pretty quickly. That's the name of the new game, and if that makes you giggle, you might find something to enjoy here.

Your enthusiasm for the TV show is in a large part going to determine whether this latest South Park RPG is for you, so if you're not familiar with Stan, Kyle, Cartman, Kenny, and that weird season where they killed Kenny off and replaced him with Butters, it's hard to say ahead of time whether the game's unique sense of humour will work for you. If you're not yet aware of South Park, the animation juggernaut that's been making fart jokes and satire since 1997, where have you been? Thankfully the option to switch classes helped to alleviate some of the monotony within it.Developer: Ubisoft, Ubisoft San Francisco, South Park Digital Studios LLC Your attack repertoire was limited and became slightly predictable as time went on. Another issue I found while playing was that despite the change in battle style and mechanics, the game felt at times a little too simplistic. This essentially means that if you consider yourself a fan of the series and watch it on a regular basis you are going to get more out of it, conversely if you don’t watch the show, then you’re bound to miss out on several nuances that only a South Park fan would recognise. The best and worst thing about The Fractured But Whole was the fact, that when played, the game was like one big South Park episode.

It was through this that I got to explore a lot more of South Park and enjoy some hilarious side quest moments that really helped to flesh out the storyline, which was slightly shorter than I had anticipated. Item hunting and money collection, while slightly tedious at times, proved to be very important as I required certain items to help progress through the game or gain additional followers on ‘Coonstagram’, the social media mechanic that helped bolster my influence.
